About me

I am a survey scientist with experience in political polls, survey sampling, experimental design, international survey research, machine learning, and Bayesian statistics.

I began my career at Greenberg Quinlan Rosner, a political polling firm in Washington DC. I was fortunate enough to work in the then-new micro-targeting practices, a precursor to using big data and ML modeling for political campaign work. I also had the opportunity to work on international political campaigns. I spent seven and a half years at the firm.

Next, I transitioned to the data science political startup Civis Analytics, where I managed the data science team, consulting team, data management team, and survey fielding team. I built research capacity at Civis Analytics by developing scalable, automated web survey research and collaborating with the product team to create an ad testing service, which later evolved into a product called Creative Focus.

Having accomplished all that I wanted to at Civis, I moved on to another company, Applecart, in late 2020, as I wanted to gain a deeper understanding of the digital ads ecosystem.

My passion lies in solving clients’ problems using social science. To that end, I dedicate most of my time to running research programs, writing proposals, building tools, and developing infrastructure.

Aside from my professional interests, I enjoy gardening as a hobby. I maintain a small permaculture garden in Chicago and also keep chickens and ducks.
